December 2024 | S. Glebe Road and 9th Street S. Intersection Project Concept Design Engagement: The County is proposing to improve safety and access at the intersection. Community members shared feedback on a community-informed concept design in December 2024. The proposed design adds a traffic signal; provides curb extensions at all corners to shorten crossing distances and increase visibility for people walking; adds three marked, high-visibility crosswalks in addition to the one existing south side crosswalk; widens refuge medians on S. Glebe Road; and improves visibility by removing some trees/vegetation. Feedback received will help the County refine a final concept design. Fall 2024 | Arlington’s Transportation Future Phase 1 Engagement: Last fall, the Transportation Division heard from thousands of community members, in-person and online as they launched Arlington’s Transportation Future! November 2024 | Metro Market Square Project Engagement: Staff will use the feedback from the first engagement to develop three draft concept designs for Metro Market Square, which we plan to share in Spring 2025. From October 23 to November 22, 2024, staff gathered input on existing conditions and what the community would like to see in the future Metro Market Square space. Visit the engagement summary here.
October 2024 | Courthouse Mobility Hub Pilot: Transportation staff asked for the community's feedback on what works and what is challenging about the existing Courthouse area and its transportation options. Feedback received will help The County develop a concept design to better integrate existing transportation options, make transfers easier, help orient people, and create a more enjoyable public space. August/September 2024 | Shirlington Bus Station Feasibility Study - Engagement Summary:Community members were asked to help identify benefits and challenges at the existing station in early fall of 2024. Community input will help inform a concept design to expand the Station’s bus bay area to meet future service demand as part of a larger study. Study completion is anticipated in fall of 2025. View the Arlington Boulevard Trail Enhancements Engagement Summary - Following an online feedback form opportunity this past year, County staff have released a summary detailing feedback on community experiences using this section of the Arlington Boulevard Trail (adjacent to Fairfax Drive) in Rosslyn. July 2024 | Woodmont Park Playground Renovation Engagement Summary: From July 3 to July 28, 2024, staff gathered feedback on existing conditions and three draft concept designs for Woodmont Park's playground. A detailed summary of the community's responses and the raw comments are here: Engagement #1 summary and Raw engagement data. The project team is now working to develop a final draft concept design based on community input. We will share that final draft design and ask for feedback in the fall.
July 2024 | Deer Management Engagement Summary: From June 18 to July 19, 2024, we invited feedback on the County’s draft deer management recommendation. The proposed hybrid strategy centered around professional sharpshooting but also included other approaches such as fencing and repellents. All feedback can be explored through our engagement summary and the raw data.
May 2024 | Capital Improvement Plan Engagement Summary (FY 2025-FY 2034): Over 3,100 community members shared their thoughts on the Capital Improvement Plan, the County's 10-year plan for building, maintaining, and upgrading County facilities and infrastructure. February 2024 | Budget Engagement for FY 2025: The County Manager asked the community to weigh in on the FY 2025 County Budget. In the six-week engagement period, the County heard from over 3,400 community members—both online and at in-person pop-up engagements. Read the engagement feedback here.
February 2024 | N. Sycamore Street Complete Streets Project: The County has developed a final concept design based on planning guidance, corridor data, coordination with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), and community feedback. The concept design is now undergoing preliminary engineering, coordination, and review with relevant partner organizations, such as VDOT and WMATA, and adjacent other property owners.
