Arlington Green Community Tour on Sunday, September 14 | 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.: See sustainable homes and gardens in September bloom, along with rain barrels, rain gardens, solar panels, EV charging and energy efficiency measures. Bring friends, family and neighbors; get ideas and inspiration for incorporating these sustainable practices in your home, place of worship or community! Event partners include EcoAction Arlington, Virginia Cooperative Extension - Master Gardeners, Arlington Regional Master Naturalists, Plant NOVA Natives, Northern Virginia Bird Alliance, Arlington Public Libraries, Arlington County’s Office of Sustainability and Environmental Management. Columbia Pike Bike Boulevards Concept Designs – Open House September 18, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.: Stop by the Walter Reed Community Center anytime between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.to view proposed Bike Boulevard designs, informed by community input. These routes, along 8th and 9th Street (north of Columbia Pike) and 12th Street S. (south of Columbia Pike), provide important east-west alternatives to bicycling along Columbia Pike. Your feedback will help refine the designs for implementation, along with other available information. Learn more on the project page.
Low Residential Study Engagement – Virtual Q&A Session Sept. 19 | 12 - 12:45 p.m.
Despite Arlington’s existing lot coverage and stormwater management regulations, impervious area is increasing Countywide, especially in residential areas. Impervious area increases the risk of flooding and extreme heat, which are the two most dangerous weather threats facing Arlington today. To help mitigate these risks and improve climate resilience, Arlington is considering the adoption of a maximum impervious area requirement in lower density, residentially zoned areas. National Coffee with a Cop Day - Wednesday, October 1, 8 a.m. in Clarendon and 11:30 a.m. in Ballston: The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) is proud to join communities nationwide in celebrating National Coffee with a Cop Day on Wednesday, October 1. The Community Engagement Division is hosting two informal engagement opportunities for Arlingtonians to connect with the officers that serve them and celebrate community-police relations. All are invited to attend the to ask questions, share concerns and get to know the men and women who keep Arlington safe.
