⚠️Scam Alert: Phone Calls Targeting Family & Friends of Incarcerated Individuals

The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of recent scam phone calls targeting family members and friends of individuals in our custody. Scammers are pretending to be staff from the detention facility and are claiming that an inmate needs money for bond, fees, or programs - often focusing on individuals who were recently arrested.

Please remember:
  • The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call and ask you for money over the phone for bond, programs, or any other services.
  • Do NOT provide any financial or personal information to anyone claiming to represent the jail.
  • If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately.
  • Always call the detention facility directly to verify any information:
    703-228-4470

Scammers frequently target vulnerable families - especially during the holiday season - so please stay alert, stay cautious, and help us spread the word to protect our community.

Stay safe out there!
