Quarterly Development Tracking Report

The Quarterly Development Tracking Report summarizes residential and commercial development activity and trends in Arlington. Information in these reports is generated from County staff reports, County Board minutes and data on Certificate of Occupancy (CO) permits, building permits and demolitions permits.

Highlights from this quarter’s report:

  • Marbella Apartments with 234 residential units and 1129 N Utah Street with 2 units were completed adding 236 residential units in the County.

  • The County Board approved the Riverhouse Neighborhood project (a PDSP and three (3) final site plans within), 2601 Columbia Pike (Penrose Square Phase 2), and the Lock Up Arlington Self Storage project totaling 3,060 new residential units, 41,357 SF retail, and 77,221 SF other space.

  • 4100 Fairfax Drive and 1320 N Courthouse Rd adaptive reuse projects were approved by the County Board. Combined, the projects convert 616,441 SF of office space to 565 residential units, 2,047 SF office, and 8,115 SF of retail.

  • Two (2) Expanded Housing Option (EHO) projects were approved totaling 12 units. Two (2) EHO projects started construction totaling six (6) residential units and one (1) EHO project was completed with two (2) units.

  • The Crystal Plaza 5 (SP #464) site plan was discontinued by the County Board. This removed 1,439 residential units and 22,927 SF retail from the approved project list attached to the report.
