Volunteer Manager Roundtables
The volunteer manager roundtable series is a loosely structured program for volunteer managers to engage with one another, learn new tricks of the trade and contribute insights into topics pertinent to volunteer administration. Check out the details about this month's roundtable and notes from past roundtables:
Leveraging the Expertise of Skills-Based Volunteers
While many organizations engage volunteers in direct service, administrative, and episodic ways, there are valuable opportunities to utilize volunteers strategically to save money, build capacity and get the work done. Learn how nonprofits and government agencies are tapping “skilled” or “pro-bono” volunteers to provide assistance in such areas as finance, IT, marketing, graphic & web design and events planning. See how, with the right level of support and vetting, volunteers can serve as responsible part-time project and program managers. Discover what motivates the new breed of volunteer to give their time, money and enthusiasm.
Reed Dewey, who will lead this roundtable, has over 25 years of experience in volunteer engagement. He currently is principal of Volunteer Frontier, a firm the supports all aspects of volunteer management and strategic volunteer engagement. Come prepared to share your experiences and ask questions. Everyone who leads volunteers on behalf of local nonprofits, government and civic groups is welcome!
