Aging & Disability

The Aging and Disability Services Division emphasizes aging in place through care coordination, home care, and supportive services to ensure Arlington residents can live at home and in their community. Services are provided to individuals over 60 years of age, adults with developmental disabilities and their caregivers.

The Division encompasses the Arlington Area Agency on Aging and three Community Services Board programs. It also provides support to the Arlington Commission on Aging.

Aging and Disability Services Programs

Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services (APS) receives, identifies and investigates reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of adults age 18 years or older who are incapacitated or anyone 60 and older.

Developmental Services

Developmental Services maximizes chosen outcomes for persons with developmental disabilities through service coordination and implementation in integrated community settings.

Adult Day Program

The Arlington Adult Day Program offers support to Arlington adults who need a safe and supervised environment during the day.

RAFT

Formerly "Regional Older Adults Facility Mental Health Support Team", RAFT is one of the programs that has been supporting older adults with mental illness and dementia for over 10 years, assisting older adults achieve and maintain successful community-based placements!

Medicare Counseling

Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) provides free insurance counseling to Medicare Beneficiaries
