The Sheriff’s Office serves more than 240,900 residents with 280 employees, including sworn deputy sheriffs and civilian staff. The Sheriff is an elected official independent from the local government. A State Constitutional Officer, the Sheriff serves a term of four (4) years in office with the right of succession. The current Sheriff of Arlington County is Sheriff Jose Quiroz, Jr.

Due to the predicted winter weather forecast, in-person visitation at the Arlington County Detention Facility will be suspended on Tuesday, January 27th to ensure the safety of visitors, staff, and those in our care. Normal visitation operations are expected to resume once weather conditions improve. We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Frederick Douglass Project for Justice

The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office is proud to host the Frederick Douglass Project for Justice, which provides members of the public with a tour of the detention facility and an opportunity to visit with residents of the Arlington County Detention Facility for thoughtful, guided discussions.
