The Neighborhood Complete Streets Commission advises the County Board with respect to the adoption, implementation and review of the Neighborhood Complete Streets Program, which aims to transform Arlington’s neighborhood streets to the Complete Streets model as described in the Master Transportation Plan Streets Element. The Neighborhood Complete Streets Program is intended to (1) make streets safe for all users of all ages and abilities, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and other users, and (2) preserve or enhance neighborhood character and desired community attributes.

The Commission previously met on the third Monday of most months, but reduced the frequency of meetings in 2020 and with the introduction of virtual/online meetings. In the fall of 2022, the Commission adopted a draft schedule of quarterly Commission meetings, plus an annual Funding Hearing, with a corresponding workplan for the year that allowed occasional virtual meetings.

Upcoming meeting: 2024 Funding Hearing - Monday, June 10, at 7:00 p.m.

The workplan also allowed for the occasional extra meetings. As a result, the Commission now meets 5-6 times per year, and so far, the meetings have all taken place on Mondays, with 1-2 meetings held virtually and the rest a “hybrid” format of in-person and online attendance options. For hybrid meetings, only those Commissioners who are attending in person are counted towards quorum. This page will be updated with the latest information for upcoming meeting dates, and information about how to participate.
