May 2026 Updates on Residential Curbside Collection Service

May 12, 2026: New Contract Awarded; Begins Aug. 1

After a competitive bid process, the County has selected American Disposal Services (ADS) as its new curbside collection contractor beginning on August 1. Between now and August 1, the County will work with our current contractor to begin the transition and address any ongoing performance challenges.

Customers are encouraged to continue reporting missed collections or other service issues using the County’s 24/7 online Report-a-Problem tool at arlingtonva.us/reportaproblem, by calling 703-228-5000 (Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.), or by email at descontactcenter@arlingtonva,us. Reported missed collections provide the most accurate tracking of service issues, resulting in timely resolution.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to provide service at the reliable standard you expect.

May 5, 2026: Organics Curbside Collection Contractor Hired

May 2026

Arlington County has hired American Disposal Services (ADS) to perform all organics curbside collections, beginning Monday, May 11. Continue to place yard waste and food scraps out on your weekly collection day, along with recycling and trash. Regular curbside collection service days and schedules will not change.

We recognize that recent curbside service has not met the standard our customers deserve. Adding this additional contractor will help restore reliable performance going forward.

In the meantime, we encourage customers to continue to report any missed collections using the County’s 24/7 online Report-a-Problem tool at arlingtonva.us/reportaproblem or by calling 703-228-5000 (Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Reporting missed collections is critical because it provides the most accurate tracking of service issues, resulting in timely resolution.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to restore the dependable service you expect.
