Arlington Reads: Matthew Desmond, author of “Poverty, by America”

A presentation by Matthew Desmond about his newest book "Poverty, By America," which investigates why the United States has more poverty than any other advanced democracy. This event is hosted in partnership with Arlington County Department of Community Planning, Housing and DevelopmentArlington County Department of Human Services, and the Arlington Community Foundation.

Attendance is first-come, first-served until seating capacity is reached. The event will be livestreamed on Arlington County's Youtube channel; please RSVP to receive the online link.

Condominium and Community Association Training 
Topic: Contracts and Contracting 

The City of Alexandria has once again invited Arlington residents to participate in a four-part education series geared towards condominium and community associations in 2023-2024. The goals for these classes include educating homebuyers about the structure and governance of condominium communities; strengthening the knowledge of community board members in understanding, managing and budgeting; helping communities understand state laws, and more! All workshops are offered at no cost to participants, but registration is required.

  •  FY 2023 Affordable Housing Master Plan (AHMP) Annual Report
  • Committed Affordable Housing (CAF) Resident Survey Report
  • County staff and BUGATA, a community-based organization, will share the results of a survey of more than 500 CAF residents related to their housing experiences

The Home Maintenance workshop event is designed to offer valuable information to Arlington residents regarding home maintenance and basic repairs. Participants will gain essential basic plumbing, electrical work, drywall repair, and energy savings skills.

Take a look at new affordable developments and learn the story about how they were built.
