Inspections & Permits

Arlington County enforces the 2021 Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code and the Arlington County Fire Prevention Code to help ensure buildings and businesses maintain safe conditions for occupants and emergency responders. The Office of the Fire Marshal conducts fire and life safety inspections, reviews permit applications, issues operational permits, and verifies compliance with applicable fire code requirements. These services help identify hazards, ensure fire protection systems are properly maintained, and promote a safer community.
