Payment Instructions

Pay Your Invoice

Use one of the payment options below to pay your ACFD Office of the Fire Marshal invoice.

Option 1: Pay Online

Visit the Arlington County online payment portal: Pay your invoice online.

  1. Select ACFD Inspections and Permits as the payment type.
  2. Enter the Occupancy ID located at the top right of your invoice.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. Enter your name, phone number, and email address.
  5. Select a payment method:
    • E-check: No fee
    • Debit card, credit card, PayPal, PayPal Credit, Venmo, Google Pay, or Apple Pay: A 2.35% fee applies.
  6. Agree to the Payment Authorization Terms.
  7. Click Pay.

You will receive an email confirmation after your payment is completed.

Option 2: Pay Using the QR Code

  1. Open the PDF version of your invoice.
  2. Use your phone or tablet camera to scan the QR code.
  3. Tap the link that appears.
  4. Select the blue Pay Invoice button at the bottom of the page.
  5. Enter your name, phone number, and email address.
  6. Select a payment method:
    • E-check: No fee
    • Debit card, credit card, PayPal, PayPal Credit, Venmo, Google Pay, or Apple Pay: A 2.35% fee applies.
  7. Agree to the Payment Authorization Terms.
  8. Click Pay.

You will receive an email confirmation after your payment is completed.

Option 3: Pay by Mail

Only checks are accepted by mail. Make your check payable to Arlington County Fire Department.

Write the complete invoice number on the check. Checks without the complete invoice number may be delayed.

Important Check Mailing Notice
DO NOT send checks to the Office of the Fire Marshal at 2100 Clarendon Boulevard, Suite 1010, Arlington, VA 22201. All checks must be mailed to the P.O. Box in Merrifield listed above.

Important Information

Permits will only be issued after payment has been received and all outstanding violations have been corrected.

Operating without a valid permit is a violation of the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code. It may be charged as a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail, a fine of up to $2,500, or both. See Code of Virginia § 27-100.
