FAMIS (Family Access to Medical Insurance Security) MOMS

Program Description

Provides health care coverage during pregnancy and for two months following the end of pregnancy.

Application do not require a face-to-face interview. Mail-in and faxed applications are accepted. Interested persons can get an applications by visiting or calling the office.

Services covered:

• Prescription drugs
• Physicians visits
• In-patient and out-patient hospital care
• Preventive care
• Dental Services (effective 3/1/15)

Eligibility

• Virginia resident
• U.S. citizen or legal immigrant
• Currently pregnant or within the 60 day period after pregnancy ends
• Applicant does not have other insurance

FAMIS MOMS Family Income Limits*

Effective January 2026

*Includes 5% standard disregard
**Gross income is before taxes and deductions
***Count unborn children as additional family members

• Social Security Number or proof of application
• If not born in the United States, front and back of Immigration documents, Alien registration card, I-94 or Passport
• Proof of income and that of spouse, if applicable
