October 15, 2025 Update on 2025-26 COVID-19 Vaccines

Check with your healthcare provider to ensure you get all recommended vaccines this respiratory illness season.

The 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for persons 6 months and older, based on individual-based decision-making on the risks and benefits of the vaccine with a healthcare provider (such as a primary care physician, specialist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, and/or pharmacist). In Virginia, no prescription is needed for people 3 years of age and up to get the vaccine at a pharmacy.

Use Vaccine Finder – Search for pharmacy vaccine locations in your area using your zip code
Check with your healthcare provider, your health plan, or your employer
- Virginia Vaccines for Children (VVFC) – For children without health insurance or who are on Medicaid, you can look for a provider
- Virginia Vaccines for Adults (VVFA) – For adults without health insurance you can look for a provider

Arlington COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

Arlington County Public Health Division is offering the 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine, using Moderna SPIKEVAX (children 6 months to 11 years) and Pfizer Comirnaty (persons 12 years and older), on a limited basis by appointment only.

Bring	Photo ID Vaccine card	Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian Parent/legal guardian photo ID Child’s vaccine card (if applicable)

Authorized Vaccines and Schedule
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorizes the following 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine products in the United States:

mRNA vaccines - Comirnaty (Pfizer), SPIKEVAX (Moderna) and MNEXSPIKE (Moderna)
Protein subunit vaccine - Nuvaxovid (Novavax)

The CDC maintains a current COVID-19 vaccine schedule. The number of doses varies by age, vaccine, and previously received COVID-19 vaccines.
