COVID-19 Vaccine

Recommended for persons 6 months of age and older, as follows:

All persons 65 years and older
Persons ages 6 months – 64 years with at least 1 high-risk condition that can increase the risk of severe COVID-19

The 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for persons 6 months and older, based on individual-based decision-making on the risks and benefits of the vaccine with a healthcare provider (primary care physician, specialist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, and pharmacist). In Virginia, no prescription is needed for people 3 years of age and up to get the vaccine at a pharmacy.

Professional medical associations, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), have recently issued their own recommendations for 2025-2026 COVID-19 vaccines. These differ from September 2025 ACIP recommendations and the CDC’s updated Child/Adolescent Immunization Schedules and Adult Immunization Schedule.

Eligibility - Discuss your eligibility with your healthcare provider – Most people have one or more high-risk COVID-19 conditions identified by the CDC.
Access - Check with the pharmacy or provider to ensure the 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine is in stock
Costs - Check with your health insurance to determine if the 2025-26 COVID-19 vaccine is covered

Flu Vaccine

Recommended for all persons 6 months and older.

RSV Vaccine

RSV is recommended as follows:

One lifetime RSV vaccine for persons 75+ and persons 50-74 with risk factors
Maternal RSV vaccine in 8th month of pregnancy (32-36 weeks)
Antibodies for infants (those under 8 months and 8-19 months with risk factors) with no maternal RSV vaccine history
