Gulf Branch Outfall Repairs
StatusIn Design
The outfalls at N Peary and N Nelson Street to Gulf Branch are actively eroding and undermining storm drain infrastructure.
Project goals include:
- Create a stable outfall
- Maintain the storm infrastructure, repair erosion
- Remove invasive plants, add native plants
- Minimize impacts to the stream corridor
N Peary/Piedmont Street Outfall Repair
The outfall behind N Peary St and N Piedmont St leads to a small tributary of Gulf Branch. The endwall of the stormwater pipe has fallen off into the stream channel and there is a large area with invasive bamboo and steep banks. Additional site-specific project considerations include maintaining the pedestrian bridge, feasible access paths, protecting high-value habitat, and coordinating the approach with neighbors.

N Nelson Street Outfall Repair
This outfall at N Nelson Street leads to another small tributary of Gulf Branch. The endwall and concrete pad have been undermined and there is extensive erosion underneath. The flow of water has created a small hole in the concrete pad and is dripping through to the area below. There is also additional erosion upslope of the outfall.
