West Columbia Pike Stormwater Improvements

The West Columbia Pike area(PDF, 23MB)  is one of the critical watersheds affected by repeated flooding and identified for stormwater capacity improvements in the FY25-34 Capital Improvement Program. The intersection of Columbia Pike and N. Greenbrier St and some of the nearby properties have experienced repeated flooding events.

The capacity improvements in the West Columbia Pike area will be completed in several phases.  The first phase was to install new storm drains on Greenbrier St, to capture water flowing down Greenbrier St and to help reduce flood risk in the intersection at Columbia Pike and Greenbrier St.

Early design work is underway on system capacity improvements, along with early planning for potential overland relief paths and flood resiliency measures.  The County's next CIP will provide an update on the details and estimated costs and schedule.

Flooding occurred again in this area from an intense storm on June 13, 2025.  More than 2 inches of rain fell in an hour, which is between a 25- and 50-year event.
