Humanities

The Humanities encompass oral history, spoken word, and literature which are the cornerstones of all societies and something we seek to celebrate and elevate in Arlington.

The performing arts is one of the best connectors for people and communities. In Arlington, signature festivals like the Rosslyn Jazz Festival draw over 10,000 people from all around the Metro DC area, while festivals like the Columbia Pike Blues Festival celebrates the vibrant culture of one of our most diverse neighborhoods.

Visual Arts

The visual arts in Arlington can be found everywhere in the community: from exhibitions on the Arlington ART Bus, to projections on building facades.

Arlington Art Truck

The Arlington Art Truck is a curated mobile tool box for artists-in-residence to engage the public from April to October in interactive art projects designed to blur the line between participant and presenter, citizen and government.

The Studios at Arlington Arts

The Studios at Arlington Arts are fully equipped professional studios for artists working in ceramics & printmaking. The Studios houses a mini-gallery with rotating exhibitions of visiting and resident artists. Master workshops are offered throughout the year.

Lubber Run Amphitheater – Free Concert Series

The Lubber Run Summer Concert series features over twenty free performances from a variety of genres including big band, blues, soul and orchestral music as well as cabaret to the Lubber Run Amphitheater.

AIR@2700

The work of four regional artists-in-residence (AIR) will help activate a new flexible outdoor performance space at 2700 S Nelson Street, adjacent to the Arlington Cultural Affairs building located at 3700 South Four Mile Run Drive, with work that is representative of the rich diversity of Arlington County.

Public Art

Arlington is home to more than seventy permanent public art projects. These projects are commissioned by the County to be integrated into various capital improvement projects, commissioned by developers as part of the site plan process, and initiated by communities.

SPARK! Market

SPARK! is a fun inclusive outdoor market with handpicked art and food vendors, and programming including poetry, music and art making. Hang out with us the first Sunday of the month, meet your neighbors, build community and be inspired at SPARK!
