Día de los Muertos Celebration

Friday, November 1, 5-8pm

Join us for an evening picnic on the lawn of Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington with family-friendly art projects, Loteria games, vendors, performance and games. Delicious tacos and craft espresso drinks from local food trucks. Live performances include music from Mariachi Los Amigos, dance from Los Quetzales, and poetry reading from Edith Graciela Sanabria. Artist David Amoroso is building a large-scale ofrenda (altar) on the front portico of the building; bring a photo of a loved one who has passed to include and be honored. Moving Words 2024 Student Contest Winners

Ten student poets from Arlington Public Schools have been selected for the Moving Words Student Competition 2024. Selected from 415 entries submitted by 266 students, the ten winning poems are displayed aboard ARTbuses traversing Arlington County from October 2024 through March 2025.

“Let It FLOW!” installation promotes proper waste disposal

We’ve all heard the warnings: Don’t pour grease down the drain… don’t put batteries in the trash… But where do these items really belong? The Arlington Art Truck’s fall installation, “Let It FLOW!” by artist Scott Pennington, turns a classic bean bag toss into an educational experience, showing you the right way to dispose of common household waste.

The Arlington Arts Commission completed a comprehensive study of the arts and culture ecosystem in Arlington resulting in goals and strategies meant to provide Arlington arts stakeholders with tangible goals to create a thriving artistic and cultural community that supports the foundation of Arlington’s sense of place.
