There will be an opportunity to reflect on the spoken poetry as well as Q&A with the poets. Presented in partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation Office of 55+ Programs and the Alliance for Arlington Senior Programs.

Angelique Palmer

Angelique Palmer is a performance poet, Kindergarten Teacher, and Spoken Word instructor at Wilkes University. Currently ranked 19th among the top 96 competitive poets in the world; and she was the 5th-ranked woman in the world in 2015. Her first full-length book, The Chambermaid’s Style Guide, debuted on Sargent Press in 2016. Her second book is the 2021 follow-up Also Dark on Etruscan Press. She makes her own ice cream. This is not a metaphor.

 

Hayes Davis

Hayes Davis is the author of Let Our Eyes Linger (Poetry Mutual Press). He is currently serving as the Howard County (MD) Poetry and Literature Society Writer in Residence, and won a 2022 Maryland State Arts Council Independent Artists Award. His writing has appeared most recently on the Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day feature, and has also appeared in New England Review, Mom Egg Review, Poet Lore, and several anthologies. He was a member of Cave Canem’s first cohort of fellows. An education administrator and English teacher, he lives in Silver Spring with his wife, poet Teri Ellen Cross Davis.
