Youth Gymnastics Classes
Below are the descriptions for youth gymnastics classes that are part of the Arlington County Gymnastics Program. These classes are for youth ages 5-13 years. Please make sure to register your child for the appropriate class based on their age and skill criteria below. Specific skill requirements are required to advance to the next level. Please note that taking a course one time does not mean it was successfully completed. Students will likely repeat courses to master the required skills for the next level. The descriptions and skills listed below indicate what your child will learn to master in these classes. There is no maximum or minimum time that is allotted to master specific skills. Instructor evaluations will determine eligibility to advance to the next level class or necessity to repeat the current level class.
Girls Level 1 (5-6, 7-8 or 9-12 years)

Description and Requirements
Participants will learn the fundamentals of gymnastics. This class is suited for beginning participants who will learn how to execute basic skills on vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Participants must be recommended by instructor evaluation to move into Girls Level 2. All classes held at the Barcroft Sport and Fitness Center.
Girls Level 2 (6-8 or 9-12 years)

Description and Requirements
Participants are introduced to advanced gymnastics skills on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise while progressing their strength, flexibility, and execution of skills. This class is suited for participants who have 1-2 years of gymnastics experience Students must be recommended by instructor evaluation before moving to Level 3+. All classes held at the Barcroft Sport and Fitness Center.
Girls Level 3 (7-13 years)

Participants continue learning advanced gymnastics skills on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. A strong foundation is needed to excel through these higher-level progressions and skills. This class also teaches participants the introductory skills of our competitive gymnastics program in a non-competitive environment, with a focus on strength and flexibility. Participants who successfully complete this class may be considered to join our competitive team program. All classes held at theBarcroft Sport and Fitness Center.
Boys Level 1 (5 – 7 or 8-12 years)

Description and Requirements
Participants continue their gymnastics progressions growing their skill level on the six men’s gymnastics events (vault, parallel bars, high bar, pommel horse, rings, and floor exercise). This class will focus on strength and clean execution of advanced skills. Participants must be recommended by instructor evaluation to move into Boys Level 3. All classes held at the Barcroft Sport and Fitness Center.
Boys Level 3+ (7-13 years)
