Custody
Whether or not to pursue custody of a child can be a very complex decision. If you seek to obtain custody, you must file a petition in Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court (typically in the jurisdiction where the child resides, but there are exceptions). If you are granted custody of the child, it does not mean that the parents’ rights have been terminated. Custody orders can be changed through the appropriate court process.
