Confession of Judgment

An action in which the defendant, debtor, or attorney-in-fact provides written confession of a claim against the defendant/debtor and consents to entry of a judgment in favor of the creditor/plaintiff.

Judgments may be confessed by appointment at the Civil Division (Suite 6700) of the Arlington Circuit Court between the hours of 8am and 2:30pm Monday through Friday.

An original signed promissory note or debt instrument must be presented by the defendant, debtor, or attorney-in-fact at the time of confession. The individual will also be asked to present a proper photo ID. Further, the note must also specifically authorize confession in the Circuit Court of Arlington County.
