Holiday Season in Arlington

The Holiday Season is a wonderful time to be in Arlington, whether you call the County home, or are just passing through. If you are looking for ways to spread holiday cheer, searching for unique gifts, wondering about seasonal safety measures, or planning for a fun night on the town, you can find it all in Arlington.

Spread Joy and Give Back

Holiday Giving Program

This season, Arlington’s Department of Human Services (DHS) invites the public to make a lasting impact by providing support for neighbors who need it most. Rising food costs and uncertainty around public benefits mean many Arlingtonians are facing tough choices. Your generosity can help bridge the gap by donating to the Holiday Giving Program

Who It Helps

Your support benefits Arlingtonians who need it most:

  • Older adults living on fixed incomes
  • People with disabilities and different abilities
  • Children and families
  • Individuals receiving behavioral health services
  • Low-income households across Arlington
How It Works

Donations from the community allow DHS to provide essential resources by way of gift cards and other supports through our case managers to more than 1,000 individuals in the community during the holiday season and throughout the year.

ACPD Fill the Cruiser Toy Drive

It’s the season of giving! The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) proudly hosted its 11th annual Fill the Cruiser Toy Drive— benefiting children in need across Arlington.

The final count? More than ✨140 BOXES ✨of toys were collected during this year’s drive thanks to the overwhelming support and generosity of Arlingtonians

Holiday Safety

As you enjoy everything the holiday season has to offer, it's important to remember to keep your home, and your family, safe. Arlington's Holiday Safety page has plenty of resources you can use to make sure a holiday feast doesn't take a dangerous turn.

Additional Safety Resources:
  • Check Your Smoke Detectors: A smoke alarm is the most important safety feature of your home. In Arlington, you can also request a FREE smoke alarm from the Arlington County Fire Department.
  • Food Safety: Food handling errors and inadequate cooking are the most common problems that lead to poultry-associated food-borne disease outbreaks.
  • Keep Your Home FOG-Free: Fats, oils, grease (FOG) and wipes represent the most serious enemy of our sewer lines and your pipes.
