Working with a trusted, qualified contractor can help make your energy upgrade journey successful.  

Tips for Finding Contractors  

  • Ask for referrals from your friends and neighbors.
  • Make sure the contractor has the proper licenses to work in Virginia. You can learn more about Virginia’s licensing requirements and lookup a license here
  • Ask questions to ensure the contractor can help you accomplish your goals. Find examples of questions to ask on page 23 of this guide from Rewiring America.
  • Make sure the contractor understands and will comply with Arlington’s permitting requirements. Learn more about permitting requirements for home energy upgrades.
  • Get quotes and proposals from multiple contractors. 
  • To qualify for utility rebate programs, you may need to work with a pre-approved contractor. For Dominion Energy Programs, use the Find a Contractor Tool or call 888-366-8280. For Washington Gas programs, search the Washington Gas Home Energy Savings Contractor Network or call 833-286-0860.
