Foreclosure Prevention

Free counseling and other resources are available to assist Arlington homeowners facing the prospect of foreclosure. If you are at risk of foreclosure or struggling with monthly mortgage payments, it’s important to act quickly. The sooner you start the process, the sooner you will be able to access the resources you need to prevent foreclosure.

The following programs may also assist homeowners dealing with financial hardship. Income restrictions may apply to certain programs.

Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC)

For homeowners struggling with mortgage payments; provides free foreclosure prevention counseling and classes.

Legal Services of Northern Virginia (LSNV)

For homeowners needing legal assistance on such issues as mortgage loan misrepresentation or fraud; provides information about free legal aid for people with low to moderate incomes.

Department of Human Services (DHS)
703-228-1300		 Provides assistance to individuals and families in financial distress.
Arlington Employment Center (AEC)
703-228-1400		 Provides comprehensive employment services, including assistance with job search, skill improvement and resume writing.
Community Assistance Bureau (CAB)
703-228-1350		 For individuals and families in economic hardship, provides emergency assistance including food vouchers, utility and shelter payments, and help with prescriptions.
Real Estate Tax Relief Program
703-228-1350		 Provides a partial or full exemption from real estate taxes for homeowners, ages 65 and older, who are disabled or have low to moderate incomes.
Food Stamps, Medicaid, and other Assistance Programs
