Communicable Disease Programs
We provide surveillance and investigation of reportable communicable diseases and infectious disease outbreaks in Arlington County as mandated by Virginia State law.
This includes:
- Preventing and controlling diseases that spread from person to person, or through air, water, food, soil, insects, or animals
- Investigating outbreaks (including where many people in one place get the same illness at the same time)
- Providing information to healthcare providers to help slow or stop the spread of germs

To report reportable communicable diseases and conditions, as mandated by Virginia State law:
