Munit and Z Lovebugs Celebrate Roberta, Music and You!

Book cover of

Munit and Z Lovebugs perform songs inspired by Roberta Flack’s children’s book, "The Green Piano", speaking on the ways we, too, can be excellent at the things we love to do.

"The Green Piano" by 5-time Grammy-award winning Roberta Flack tells the story of Roberta's love for music, desire to learn the piano, and the first piano that her father found, fixed, painted and gave her. It talks about the passion and work it takes to be great and how we should dream big, as dreams can come true!

Munit and z Lovebugs Munit and z Lovebugs are an adorable Ethio-Haitian-American family band born of the time spent together during the pandemic with Munit on voice, ukulele and drums, Gabriel on bass, Meezan on ukulele and voice, Ayana on voice and saxophone! They play songs that leave children 3 to 103 feeling better than they did when they came in - songs of love, peace, positivity, and joy, songs about our place on our planet Earth, sung in English, Amharic, French, Spanish and no words at all :) ! They love when those around them shine, singing along, and join in as to their originals and the classics! They have performed in many festivals, community sings, libraries and schools in DC, MD and VA.

This event is a part of a series. Two contemporary women musicians, Munit Mesfin and Amy K. Bormet, uplift the legacies of Arlington legendary women musicians Roberta Flack and the International Sweethearts of Rhythm with a weekend showcase at Theatre on the Run on October 3-5, 2025.
