Paperless Billing Terms and Responsibilities

The Treasurer may, in accordance with the Code of Virginia, transmit bills electronically with the taxpayer’s consent.

By agreeing to the terms and clicking “Submit” to enroll in the Arlington County Treasurer’s Paperless Billing Program, you agree to the following Terms and Responsibilities:

  1. Consent to Electronic Delivery
You agree to receive your Arlington County tax bills electronically for any real estate property, vehicle personal property, and business tangible property tax accounts that you own (or co-own). You understand that by consenting to electronic delivery that our office will no longer send you printed copies by mail.
  2. Co-Owner Account Access
You understand that once Paperless Billing is enabled, all co-owners will have the ability to view correspondence and payment information and manage all current and future accounts associated with your customer profile—even accounts for which they are not listed as a co-owner.
  3. Maintain Valid Contact Information
You must provide and maintain a current, valid email address for the purpose of receiving your paperless Arlington County property tax bills. It is also your responsibility to maintain a current mailing address for Arlington County tax accounts.
  4. Electronic Notifications
You will receive email notifications when your tax bills are available to view online. Failure to receive or open the email(s) does not relieve you of your responsibility to pay your taxes by the due date.
  5. Timely Payment
Your obligation to pay your taxes in full and by the due date remains, regardless of whether the bill has been viewed or not. Failure to pay on time will result in penalties, interest, and collection fees and actions in accordance with the Code of Virginia.
  6. Security and Privacy
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. The Arlington County Treasurer’s Office is not liable for unauthorized access to your billing information resulting from your failure to maintain the security of your email account.
  7. Opting Out
You may cancel your enrollment in Paperless Billing at any time by navigating to the “I Want To” tab in your CAPP profile. Then, under “Bills and Letters,” click “Paperless Billing Enrollment” to opt out. Once unenrolled, you will resume receiving paper bills at the mailing address on record and shown in your CAPP profile.
  8. Changes to Terms
The Arlington County Treasurer’s Office reserves the right to modify or update these terms at any time. Notice of changes will be provided electronically, of course!
