Logan - The Dual-Savvy Scent Detector

Logan, our first K9, is a remarkable black Labrador Retriever with an extraordinary skill set. He is certified in the detection of cell phones, USB drives, hard drives, and other electronic storage devices. Logan is one of only three dogs in the entire state of Virginia to hold this certification, making him a true specialist in his field. He is also trained to identify the scent of illegal substances, even in small quantities. He is the ONLY K9 in the Commonwealth of Virginia with these dual credentials! He undergoes rigorous training to detect various drugs, helping law enforcement agencies in their efforts to combat drug trafficking and keep our community safe. Logan's journey began as a rescue dog, and thanks to the generosity of the Maryland Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services, he was donated to our Sheriff's Office. He was then paired with his handler, Corporal Matthew Camardi, and together they complete drug and electronics detection certifications and training programs. K9 Logan and Cpl. Camardi play a crucial role in keeping our community safe!

Hope - The Future Wellness Ambassador

Our youngest recruit is Hope, a delightful Dudley yellow Labrador Retriever. Although Hope is still a puppy, she is already destined for a special role within our office. Hope will be trained as a wellness dog and is teamed up with Corporal Ewelina Zajkowski, providing comfort and emotional support to our deputies, staff, and the residents of Arlington, VA. Hope's presence will be a calming influence at community events and within the office, helping to reduce stress and promote mental well-being. As she grows and undergoes her training, we look forward to seeing the positive impact she will have on everyone she meets.

Weaver - The Upcoming Bomb and Evidence Detection and SAR Expert

In the near future, our team will be joined by a yellow Labrador Retriever, Weaver, a highly trained bomb detection dog. Weaver, paired with Corporal Kevin McCabe, will be responsible for detecting explosives and evidence and ensuring the safety of our Courthouse, public spaces and events. This specialized training is crucial in today's world, and Weaver's addition to our K9 team will further enhance our ability to protect and serve the community. Weaver is also trained in search and rescue efforts.

These K9s are more than just working dogs; they are trusted partners and cherished members of our law enforcement family. Whether it's detecting hidden electronics, offering comfort and support, or ensuring public safety, Logan, Hope, and Weaver are dedicated to making Arlington County a safer and more connected community.
