The TJ Art Studio at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center provides a creative space for artists to attend classes, workshops, independent studies and Art Events.

Art Studio questions can be directed to 703-228-5925 or TJArtStudios@arlingtonva.us. If you are new or a first-time user for the wheel time program you must take a studio tour before registering.  Please call the studio at 703-228-5925 or email us for a tour at tjartstudios@arlingtonva.us

Pottery Tours are given on the following days and time:
Wednesday from 10:30 – 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m.
Saturday from 2 – 4 p.m.
Please note: Days and times are subject to change due to Holidays or special events.

Register today and start learning and practicing your craft in three unique disciplines: ceramics, jewelry, and woodworking.

Wheel Time

Open StudioWheel time is for participants with previous experience to work at their own pace with no instruction provided. We want everyone using the studios to have a safe, creative and fun experience but safety is our main priority. If you are new to the studios and this is your first time to attend, you must take a tour prior to registering. Please call or email our Art Studio staff at 703-228-5925 orTJartstudios@arlingtonva.us to schedule a tour. We appreciate your cooperation and consideration!

  • Registration is required for all sessions. No drop-ins. See below for step-by-step instructions.
  • If you are a new or first-time user of wheel time, STOP and schedule a tour before registering.  Please call or email the Art Studio at 703-228-5925 or TJartstudios@arlingtonva.us to schedule a tour.
  • If you have taken a Wheel class at TJ Art Studios, you do not need to take a tour before registering for Wheel Time. 
  • Space is limited to 14 people per session.
  • Clay must be purchased at the TJ Art Studio; outside clay is not allowed.

 


 Fees
Residents $25 per time block
Non-County Residents $30 per time block
County Senior Residents – Pottery $18 per time block
25lb Bag of Clay $20 per bag
Recycled Clay (when available) $7 for 12 lbs.

    before registering. 

    1. Log into your household account or set up a household account.
    2. Click on "Search" located on the blue banner at top of page
    3. Click on "TJ Art Studios"
    4. Click on "Wheel Time" and select available day and time-slot on calendar to add to cart
    5. Follow the prompts to check out.

Independent Study: Woodworking

We want everyone using the studios to have a safe, creative and fun experience but safety is our main priority. If you are new to the studios and this is your first time to attend, you must take a tour before registering.   • If you have taken a Woodworking class at TJ Art Studios, you do not need to take a tour before reregistering for an Independent Study session. 
  • A minimum of 5 registered participants are needed for a session to go.
  • Space is limited to 6 people per session.
  • Minimum age 16.

Non-County Residents  $36 per time block
County Senior Residents - Woodshop     $22 per time block
