The Department of Human Services (DHS) Community Assistance Bureau (CAB) is the first call to make for help if you or someone you know is homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. We help Arlington residents find shelter, emergency food, housing and other vital services. Referrals can be made to Arlington County shelters.
If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness:
Path Forward Rapid Re-Housing Program provides individuals with housing subsidies and supportive services to help participants reach housing centered goals. Call 703-842-0152.
Arlington’s network of community homeless services relies on financial contributions, donations of food, clothing, and other items, and community volunteers. For more information on how you can help, visit Volunteer Arlington.

Each year, the Continuum of Care conducts a Point-in-Time Count to understand the scope of homelessness in our community. Read the 2026 Arlington County PIT Count summary(PDF, 240KB). Data from Arlington, VA is part of a regional analysis and annual report on homelessness by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) Homeless Services Planning and Coordinating Committee.
