Family Day Care Homes

The Child Care Services Office is ready to help you become a licensed Family Day Care provider in Arlington County.

The County amended two Zoning Ordinances in 2025 to facilitate the provision of childcare in Arlington:

Enable childcare facilities as an allowable use within all zoning districts, including the Special Development District (S-D) zoning district.
Remove the requirement for family day care homes with 10-12 children to have a use permit.
