Program Description
The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, also known as Farm Market Fresh, helps older adults access fresh, seasonal, and locally grown foods. It also supports local farmers and farmers markets in Virginia. The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is a federally supported program funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, administered at a state level by the Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), and distributed locally by the Arlington Area Agency on Aging (AAA).
The program runs from June 1 to November 30 annually. Approved participants who meet the eligibility criteria receive $50 on a pre-loaded benefit card or via the Healthy Together app on their smart phone.
