Specialized Court Services

Psychological Services

  • Performs court ordered evaluations for adults and juveniles involved in the juvenile and domestic relations court. 

  • Provides case dependent, individual, family, and group therapy as well as skills training  

  • Consults with and trains probation staff, specifically juvenile and adult probation units, Argus House, Aurora House, Girls Outreach Program, Safe Havens, and Young Achievers Program.

Substance Abuse Services

  • Performs on-site drug screening for court involved adolescents and adults  

  • Conducts a substance abuse assessment that includes the adolescent version of the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI-A3) 

  • Uses screenings and assessment for substance abuse prevention, early intervention, deterring usage, recommending treatment and relapse prevention 

  • Provides substance abuse education classes to the Argus House, Aurora House, Young Achievers Program, the Girls’ Outreach Program, and court involved adolescents and families (on an individual level).

Community Service

The 17th CSU utilizes Offender Aid Restoration for community service.  

  • Individuals who are court-ordered to complete community service through the Arlington County or City of Falls Church Courts; 

  • Individuals who have been approved by a Judge to complete community service in lieu of paying their court costs; 

  • Individuals who are referred by their attorney to complete community service pre-trial.

School Probation Counselor Program

  • Provides supervision and assistance to court involved youth with a history of school performance issues. 

  • Decrease the number of probation violation allegations, rate of recidivism and the placement rate for probation students attending the targeted schools. 

  • Provide intervention services to youth on probation status within the targeted school and encourage parental involvement.
