Confession of Judgment

An action in which the defendant, debtor, or attorney-in-fact provides written confession of a claim against the defendant/debtor and consents to entry of a judgment in favor of the creditor/plaintiff.

Judgments may be confessed by appointment at the Civil Division (Suite 6700) of the Arlington Circuit Court between the hours of 8am and 3pm Monday through Friday.

An original signed promissory note or debt instrument must be presented by the defendant, debtor, or attorney-in-fact at the time of confession. The individual will also be asked to present a proper photo ID. Further, the note must also specifically authorize confession in the Circuit Court of Arlington County.
