Solid Waste Management Plan Town Hall

A town hall session covering the drafting of Arlington's new Solid Waste Management Plan.

Click to attend the May 12 Virtual Town Hall at 6:30 p.m.

The SWMP is a state mandated 20-year planning document that serves as the County’s principal solid waste management framework. SWMPs are required to assess and plan for the reuse, recycling, and disposal of solid waste. Arlington’s plan will incorporate zero waste principles consistent with the County’s adopted target of at least 90% waste diversion from landfill or incineration by 2038. Learn more about Arlington County's public advisory Solid Waste Committee.

Ideas and suggestions for the County's zero-waste planning efforts are encouraged and should be submitted to dkrietemeyer@arlingtonva.us by May 31. Due to time constraints, no individual responses will be provided but submissions will be incorporated into the SWMP process.
