Demolition Underway at 1401 Langston Blvd
Published on July 14, 2025
Demolition of the property at 1401 Langston Blvd. began in February earlier this year with the parking garage and a smaller building. Demolition on the “main” tower and the oldest portion, the “motel” tower, began last week. The property is being demolished in phases and deconstructed floor-by-floor to ensure minimum impact to the community. This work is anticipated to take several months.
We don’t anticipate any road or trail closures, and expect minimal impact on transportation. However, as with any active construction site, short-term closures may be necessary to ensure safety of both the public and demolition crews.
The site plan for a renovated hotel and two residential buildings on the property expired July 1, 2025. The current property owner—or any future owner of the property—would have to apply for a new site plan to be able to redevelop the property, which is a premier location at the gateway to Arlington County with an important role in the placemaking of the Rosslyn area.
