REPORTS
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING ON POLICE, 2026-09190086, 2700 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 11:00 a.m. on September 19, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, allegedly broke a glass bottle and began waving it around. Responding officers located the suspect outside of the business and issued him commands which he ignored. The suspect advanced toward an officer with the broken glass bottle. Following the deployment of a taser and an additional responding officer to the scene, the suspect was taken into custody. Juan Francisco Melendez Melendez, 47, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding on Police, Destruction of Property and Disorderly Conduct.
ROBBERY, 2026-09200131, 900 block of S. Rolfe Street. At approximately 5:22 p.m. on September 20, police were dispatched to the report of trouble unknown. Upon arrival, it was determined the juvenile male victim was in the area when he was approached by eight to ten juvenile male suspects who assaulted him and stole his shoes. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim did not sustain any injuries. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2026-09200120,1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 4:36 p.m. on September 20, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the juvenile male victim was inside the business when he was approached by a group of juvenile males who attempted to steal items of clothing from his person. The victim was able to run away from the suspects who subsequently fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim sustained minor injuries. The suspects are described as juvenile males in their teens, wearing all black clothing. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/ROBBERY (Late), 2026-09180116, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 1:12 p.m. on September 18, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, collected merchandise in a shopping cart and fled the scene after employees confronted the suspect as he was walking towards the exit without making payment. It was also determined that on September 10, the male suspect entered the business, concealed merchandise in a bag and walked towards the exit of the store without payment. When confronted by an employee by the exit, the suspect struggled with the employee before subsequently fleeing the scene with the stolen merchandise. During the course of the investigation, the suspect was identified and a warrant was obtained for Robbery.
