REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2026-05260106, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 12:28 p.m. on May 26, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, collected merchandise and allegedly exited the store without payment. When an employee confronted the suspect outside of the business, the suspect made threatening statements before fleeing the scene on foot. A lookout was broadcast, and a responding officer located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of Fairfax Drive and N. Stuart Street and attempted to take him into custody. The suspect ignored commands, struck an officer and resisted arrest until he was subsequently taken into custody with the assistance of additional responding officers. No injuries were reported. While in custody, the suspect was not forthcoming with his identifying information. Upon further investigation, Walter Viera, 35, of Arlington, Va., was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Obstruction of Justice and Robbery.
