REPORTS

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2026-07190194, N. Nelson Street at Fairfax Drive. At approximately 8:38 p.m. on July 19, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was walking outside following a verbal dispute with the male suspect. The suspect caught up to the victim and allegedly struck him, causing serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located the suspect across the street from the scene and took him into custody. Matthew Vernon, 45, of No Fixed Address, was arrested, and charged with Malicious Wounding. He was held without bond.

ROBBERY, 2026-07180040, 1300 block of S. Eads Street. At approximately 5:41 a.m. on July 18, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. It was determined the adult male victim, who was operating as a rideshare driver, was inside his vehicle when his four passengers, four juvenile males in their teens, began to assault the victim following a verbal dispute. The suspects stole a phone charger before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and declined medics at the scene. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located four individuals matching the descriptions of the suspects in the area of S. Eads Street and Army Navy drive and took them into custody. Petitions were obtained for the suspects for Robbery, Assault by Mob and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. Additionally, a petition was also obtained for one suspect for Wearing a Mask in Public along with the three aforementioned offenses.

ASSAULT BY MOB, 2026-07170230, 900 block of S. Dinwiddie Street. At approximately 11:08 p.m. on July 17, police were dispatched to the report of an assault just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was walking in the area when he engaged male Suspect One, who is known to him, in conversation. The suspect became irate and he, along with four other male suspects, began to assault the victim. The victim ran away and the suspects subsequently fled the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and declined medics at the scene. Suspect One is described as a Hispanic male wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts. The four other suspects are described as Hispanic males. The investigation is ongoing. 

ROBBERY, 2026-07190177, 5000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 7:02 p.m. on July 19, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that two male suspects entered the business and approached the counter to inquire about purchasing merchandise. The suspects then stole merchandise and began to exit the store without payment. When confronted by an employee, Suspect One made threatening statements and implied a weapon before both suspects fled the scene with the stolen merchandise. No injuries were reported. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspects yielding negative results. Suspect One is described as a heavy-set Black male, approximately 6'1"-6'2" tall, wearing a white tank top and shorts. Suspect Two is described as Black male, approximately 6'1"-6'2" tall, wearing a white tank top and shorts. The investigation is ongoing.
