REPORTS
WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2026-01170041, 1600 block of 16th Street N. At approximately 1:29 a.m. on January 17, police were dispatched to the report of a noise complaint at a residential building. Upon arrival, officers encountered a group outside the building smoking marijuana in public. The suspect fled from officers and following a foot pursuit, he was taken into custody in the 1500 block of N. Queen Street. During a search of the suspect incident to arrest, a loaded firearm and magazine were recovered. Kidus Wegen, 18, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Concealed Handgun, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of Marijuana by a Person Less than 21 Years of Age.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2026-01200137, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 3:10 p.m. on January 20, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and allegedly began to disrupt merchandise and other customers inside the store. When an employee confronted the suspect, he made threatening statements, and the employee called the police. Responding officers located the suspect at the scene and issued commands to which he was non-compliant and struck an officer. The suspect continued to struggle with the officers until he was subsequently taken into custody. Jamil Clark, 49, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement, Attempted Assault and Battery, Obstruction of Justice, Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Register as a Tier III Sex Offender. He was held without bond.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING (late), 2026-01200170, Unit block of S. Glebe Road. At approximately 6:37 p.m. on January 20, police responded to Virginia Hospital Center for the late report of an assault. It was determined approximately 45 minutes prior; the male victim was walking in the area when he was approached by two male suspects. Suspect one demanded money and struck him with a sharp object, resulting in lacerations. Both suspects subsequently fled the scene on foot and did not steal any of the victim’s belongings. The victim then self-reported to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects are described as males, approximately 6’1” tall and 240 pounds, wearing all black and face coverings. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2026-01200012, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 2:01 a.m. on January 20, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, went behind the counter and stole cigarettes. When an employee confronted the suspect, he made threatening statements before fleeing the scene on foot with the merchandise. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 5’5”-5’7” tall, wearing a white hoodie and a black jacket. The investigation is ongoing.
