REPORTS
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2026-01090239, 3800 block of N. Pershing Drive. At approximately 11:06 p.m. on January 9, police were dispatched to the report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that five male suspects allegedly forced entry into a vacant apartment. Responding officers located the suspects at the scene and took them into custody. Hugo Lopez Vail, 28, of Arlington, Va., Alberto Alvarez Perez, 23, of No Fixed Address, Leodarly Arias Portillo, 23, of No Fixed Address, Brian Piox Juares, 23, of No Fixed Address and Anibal Perez, 41, of Arlington, Va., were arrested, and charged with Unlawful Entry.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2026-01110169, Wilson Boulevard at N. Glebe Road. At approximately 8:23 p.m. on January 11, police were dispatched to the late report of a hit and run. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was in their vehicle at a red light, when the suspect vehicle allegedly struck the victim from behind and subsequently fled the scene. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located the suspect inside the suspect vehicle in the 1900 block of N. George Mason Drive and conducted a traffic stop. Officers issued commands to which the suspect, who was the driver of the vehicle, ignored. As police officers took the suspect into custody, the suspect was combative and struck an officer. The officer nor the driver of the struck vehicle sustained any injuries. The victim of the struck vehicle was provided information about the process of obtaining warrants from the Office of the Magistrate. Shawnita Campbell, 34, of Washington, D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement, Driving Under the Influence and Refusal of Breath/Blood Test.
BRANDISHING, 2026-01100186, 500 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 9:40 p.m. on January 10, police were dispatched to the report of a suspect with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was in the area when he approached a group of individuals outside of a business and engaged them in conversation. A verbal dispute ensued between the victim and the group of individuals and subsequently, one male suspect within the group brandished what appeared to be a firearm. The victim walked away from the group and called the police. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 2026-01100031, 2400 block of S. Lincoln Street. At approximately 2:00 a.m. on January 10, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined the female victim was inside her residence when she heard a loud noise and observed two broken windows and a rock on the floor. The victim did not report any injuries. Responding officers recovered evidence that two rocks were thrown at the victim’s windows. The preliminary investigation indicates the male suspect threw rocks at the victim’s windows and subsequently fled the scene in a vehicle. The suspect is described as a White male, with curly, long black hair and a beard, approximately 5’10”-6’2” tall, approximately 200 pounds, wearing a black hoodie and jeans. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2026-01090159, 1300 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 4:49 p.m. on January 9, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, concealed merchandise in a bag and walked towards the exit of the store without payment. Upon exiting the store, the suspect pushed a customer who was also exiting before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The investigation is ongoing.
RECKLESS HANDLING OF A FIREARM, 2026-01090144, 4400 block of 31st Street S. At approximately 3:30 p.m. on January 9, police were dispatched to the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect allegedly discharged a firearm inside a residence, causing damage to the interior of the home. Responding officers located the suspect at the scene. No injuries or other property damage were reported, and a firearm was recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
