REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2026-04230167, 1200 block of N. Herndon Street. At approximately 4:53 p.m. on April 23, officers observed a robbery suspect (2026-04150210) walking in the 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. When officers approached and attempted to detain the suspect, he assaulted an officer before being taken into custody. The officer sustained minor injuries. During a search of the suspect incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered. Tre Dawson, 32, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Robbery, Assault on Police and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.
WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2026-04230010, 900 block of N. Jackson Street. At approximately 12:57 a.m. on April 23, an officer was conducting extra checks in the area when he observed an unoccupied vehicle parked on the sidewalk and, upon investigating, determined the vehicle was displaying an altered Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and had been reported stolen. A short time later, the male suspect returned to the vehicle and the officer took the suspect into custody. During the course of the investigation, a firearm and suspected narcotics were recovered. Atmal Hamidi, 26, of Gainesville, Va., was arrested and charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of Drugs, Possession of a Vehicle with an Altered Serial Number and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. He was held without bond.
ROBBERY, 2026-04230013, 4900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 2:23 a.m. on April 23, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was in the area when he approached a group of four male suspects, who are known to him, and engaged them in conversation. The four suspects, two of which displayed knives, assaulted the victim and stole his phone and personal belongings before fleeing the scene on foot. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
