Crime Report: September 26, 2025

REPORTS

ROBBERY, 2025-09250208, 3300 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 9:03 p.m. on September 25, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly entered the store, concealed merchandise and attempted to exit the store when an employee confronted him. The suspect struck the employee before fleeing the scene on foot. The employee sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention. A lookout was broadcast for the suspect and responding officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of 7th Street S. and S. Glebe Road and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, suspected narcotics were recovered. John McCoy, 28, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Robbery and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance. He was held without bond.

ROBBERY, 2025-09250227, 2700 block of 9th Street S. At approximately 10:43 p.m. on September 25, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined Victim One, an adult female, and Victim Two, a juvenile male, were outside when Suspect One, who is known to the victims, and Suspect Two approached. A verbal dispute ensued during which Suspect Two allegedly pepper sprayed the victims. The victims attempted to run from the scene when the suspects chased them, assaulted them and stole their cellphones and other electronics before fleeing the scene. The victims sustained injuries consistent with pepper spray exposure and were treated and released on scene by medics. During the course of the investigation, Suspect One was identified and warrants were obtained for Robbery (x2). Suspect Two was not located or identified and is described as a thin-build Black female, approximately 5’5”. The investigation is ongoing.

SEXUAL BATTERY, 2025-09260003, 2400 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 1:06 a.m. on September 26, police were dispatched to the report of a suspicious person. The preliminary investigation indicates the female victim was walking in the area when the male suspect approached and engaged her in conversation during which he inappropriately touched her buttocks. The victim told the suspect she was going to contact police and he displayed a knife, knocked her phone to the ground and fled the scene. Officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a heavyset Hispanic male with a short black beard wearing a blue and black hat, a red and blue shirt and riding an electric scooter. The investigation is ongoing. 

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (Series), 09250235, 1500 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 11:32 p.m. on September 25, police responded to the report of an individual slashing tires in the area. Upon arrival, officers located 10 victim vehicles with their tires slashed. The victim vehicles vary in make and model.  Officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as an Asian male, wearing a tan jacket, blue jeans and a black hat. The investigation is ongoing.

PEEPING (late), 2025-09250095, 1600 block of 21st Street N. On September 15, police received an online report for a late peeping. It was determined at approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 20, the victims were inside their residence when they observed the male suspect peeping into their home. One of the victims went outside to confront the suspect, who subsequently fled the scene. The suspect is described as an Asian male, approximately 25-30 years old wearing gray sweatpants and a tank top. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY (late), 2025-09250171, 3200 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 5:55 p.m. on September 25, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. It was determined between 7:15 p.m. on September 24 and 2:00 p.m. on September 25, the suspect(s) attempted to force entry into the closed business before fleeing the scene. No entry was made into  the business. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
