REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-03100018, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:52 a.m. on March 10, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, responding officers observed a large crowd in the stairwell inside a business with two individuals engaged in a physical altercation. As the officers attempted to separate the parties, Suspect One struck an officer several times and actively resisted arrest before being taken into custody with the assistance of additional responding officers. During a search incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered. Yancy Alvarado, 23, of Germantown, MD was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and Public Intoxication and held without bond. Suspect Two attempted to intervene in Suspect One’s arrest and was also taken into custody. Franklin Medina, 31, of Germantown, MD was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice and Public Intoxication. An additional suspect was on scene acting disorderly and taken into custody. Maya Herman, 22, of Germantown, MD was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.
ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2025-03080110, 1100 block of N. Vernon Street. At approximately 10:36 a.m. on March 8, a uniformed Arlington County Police Department Traffic Safety Specialist (TSS) was dispatched to the report of a parking complaint. The TSS was inside their marked County vehicle while conducting parking enforcement in the area when the male suspect allegedly approached and began to yell and bang on the vehicle. The TSS then exited their vehicle and the suspect spat on them before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located the suspect in the area and took him into custody. Shereef Abdel-Salam, 25, of Burke, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
BURGLARY (late), 2025-03070162, 3800 block of 9th Street N. At approximately 3:10 p.m. on March 7, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. It was determined between 1:14 a.m. and 1:25 a.m. on March 7, the two male suspects forced entry into two residential buildings in the area and stole packages before fleeing the scene on foot. Suspect One is described as a thin-build Black male, approximately 6’0”-6’3” with facial hair wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and black sneakers. Suspect Two is described as a thin-build Black male, approximately 6’0”-6’3” with facial hair wearing a black sweatshirt, black jeans and white sneakers. The investigation is ongoing.
