REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-01310030, 3000 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 7:14 a.m. on January 31, police were dispatched to the report of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with the male suspect inside a business who was acting disorderly and exhibited signs of being under the influence. The suspect became irate and when the officer attempted to have him sit down, he grabbed the officer. The officer then attempted to take the suspect into custody during which he was initially noncompliant before he was taken into custody. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the suspect allegedly made threats to an employee that he would bomb the building. Brian Morgan, 47, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Threats to Bomb a Building, Obstruction of Justice and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-01310196, 4200 block of Campbell Avenue. At approximately 7:48 p.m. on January 31, police were dispatched to the report of public intoxication. Upon arrival, an officer made contact with the male suspect outside a business who was in possession of an open container and exhibited signs of being under the influence. The suspect began to walk away from the officer who issued commands for him to stop. The suspect subsequently threw the open container at the officer and struck them. Another officer gave the suspect commands, which he was not compliant with, and deployed their taser. The suspect was then taken into custody. The officer sustained minor injuries. Medics transported the suspect to an area hospital for evaluation. Yohana Gebremeskel, 33, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Assault on Police and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2025-01310200, 1300 block of S. Eads Street. At approximately 8:29 p.m. on January 31, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with injury. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim and male suspect, who were acquaintances, were inside a residence when they became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated to a physical altercation before the suspect fled the scene. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. During the course of the investigation, the suspect was located in the 1200 block of S. Clark Street and was taken into custody. Lyndrez Leslie, 35, of Humble, TX was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding. He was held without bond.
WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2025-02010167, 5100 block of 7th Road S. At approximately 7:39 p.m. on February 1, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a witness who reported observing a group of juveniles fighting in the area and that one juvenile was seen in possession of a firearm near a vehicle. Responding officers canvassed the area and observed a group of juveniles in the 800 block of S. Dinwiddie Street, one of which matched the description of the juvenile with the firearm, and detained them. The involved vehicle was subsequently located in the area by officers. During the course of the investigation, a firearm, that was determined to be stolen, and suspected narcotics were recovered from the vehicle. The suspect was subsequently arrested and the remaining juveniles were released to the custody of their parents. Petitions for the juvenile suspect were obtained for Juvenile in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, No Concealed Carry Permit, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance (x2) and Possession of Schedule III/IV/V/VI Controlled Substance.
ROBBERY, 2025-01310053, 4000 block of Campbell Avenue. At approximately 8:58 a.m. on January 31, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly entered the business, concealed merchandise and attempted to exit during which he was confronted by an employee. The suspect made threatening statements towards the employee before exiting the store without payment. No injuries were reported. A lookout was broadcast and a responding officer located the suspect on a bus in the area and took him into custody. Henry Edwards Jr., 59, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Robbery. He was held without bond.
ROBBERY, 2025-02010104, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 11:48 a.m. on February 1, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, concealed merchandise and attempted to leave the store during which he was confronted by security personnel. The suspect then shoved security personnel before fleeing the scene on foot into the Ballston Metro with the stolen merchandise. No injuries were reported. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 40-50 years old wearing a jacket, blue jeans and a dark colored beanie. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2025-02020143, 1800 block of S. Arlington Ridge Road. At approximately 8:17 p.m. on February 2, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. It was determined at approximately 9:40 p.m. on February 1, the two male suspects forced entry into the victim’s unoccupied residence, rummaged through the interior of the home and stole jewelry and bags before fleeing the scene. The suspects are described as Black males. The investigation is ongoing.
