REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-12270156, 6700 block of Langston Boulevard. At approximately 8:37 p.m. on December 27, police were dispatched to the report of drunk in public. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and allegedly was throwing merchandise around the store. A responding officer located the suspect at the scene and issued commands which the suspect ignored. As the officer attempted to take the suspect into custody, the suspect resisted arrest. Additional responding officers arrived and subsequently took the suspect into custody following a struggle. While in custody, the suspect assaulted two officers and attempted to kick another. The officers sustained minor injuries. The suspect was evaluated by medics at the scene. Once cleared, James Stephens Jr., 45, of Arlington, VA, was arrested and charged with Assaulted and Battery on Law Enforcement and Obstruction of Justice. He was held without bond.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-12270158, 800 block of S. Greenbrier Street. At approximately 9:02 p.m. on December 27, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the juvenile female suspect assaulted the adult female victim, who is known to her, inside a residence. Responding officers located the suspect near the scene following a brief foot pursuit and took her into custody. During a search incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered. While in custody, the suspect struck an officer. Petitions for the suspect were obtained for Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance.
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2025-12240157, 400 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 11:09 p.m. on December 24, police were dispatched to the report of an assault with a weapon. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was in the area when he was approached by the male suspect who allegedly displayed what appeared to be a box cutter and made threatening statements. The victim ran away from the suspect and into a nearby business. The suspect followed the victim inside the business and continued to threaten them. Employees confronted the suspect who subsequently fled the scene. A lookout was broadcast, and responding officers located the suspect near the scene and took him into custody. A box cutter was recovered near the scene. Kyle Kenion, 37, of Landover, MD, was arrested and charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding and Assault and Battery.
BURGLARY, 2025-12260101, 1900 block of S. Eads Street. At approximately 3:24 p.m. on December 26, police were dispatched to the report of trespassing. Upon arrival, it was determined the female suspect allegedly made entry into the vacant apartment and caused property damage. Responding officers located the suspect at the scene. During a search incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered. Jennifer Maginnis, 32, of Woodbridge, VA, was arrested and charged with Burglary, Destruction of Property, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and Possession of Schedule III/IV/V/VI Controlled Substance. She was held without bond.
SHOTS FIRED, 2025-12270093, 13th Street N. at N. Taft Street. At approximately 12:42 p.m. on December 27, an officer conducting proactive patrols heard what appeared to be shots fired in the area. Additional responding officers recovered evidence confirming several shots had been fired. The preliminary investigation indicates the male suspect walked towards a parked vehicle, discharged a firearm and ran from the scene. An occupant of the vehicle then allegedly discharged a firearm before driving away from the scene. Officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect and the vehicle yielding negative results. No injuries or property damage from the shooting were reported. The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male in his teens, wearing black sweatpants and a black jacket. The involved vehicle is described as a black sedan. The investigation is ongoing.
SHOTS FIRED, 2025-12270180, 1700 block of 14th Road S. At approximately 10:51 p.m. on December 27, police were dispatched to the report of shots fired. The preliminary investigation indicates the male victim was outside when the male suspect approached in a vehicle, displayed what appeared to be a firearm and discharged the firearm into the air. The suspect then fled the scene in his vehicle described as a silver SUV. No injuries or property damage from the shooting were reported. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect and the vehicle yielding negative results. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2025-12270144, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 7:13 p.m. on December 27, officers working a retail theft detail in the area were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, it was determined the juvenile male victim was in the area when he was approached by a group of four juvenile male suspects. Suspect One stole the victim’s hat. When the victim confronted the suspect, he physically assaulted the victim and displayed what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband. The other male suspects physically assaulted the victim before they all fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
