REPORTS
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-12100106, 2800 Block S. Quincy Street. At approximately 3:27 p.m. on December 10, officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. During the course of the investigation, the suspect, who was the driver of the vehicle, was instructed to exit the vehicle. Upon doing so, the suspect ignored commands and was detained by an additional responding officer while the initial officers continued their investigation. While detained, the suspect struck an officer. No injuries were reported. Veyonce Smith, 22, of Alexandria, Va., was arrested, and charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
BURGLARY (late), 2025-12100053, 4500 block of 31st Street S. At approximately 9:59 a.m. on December 10, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined between 5:10 p.m. on December 9 and 9:55 a.m. on December 10, the suspect(s) forced entry into the secured apartment, causing property damage, and subsequently fled the scene. The investigation into the circumstances of this incident is ongoing.
UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2025-12100030, 1000 block of N. Taylor Street. At approximately 7:22 a.m. on December 10, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the unknown suspect forced entry into the secured residential building, causing property damage, and subsequently fled the scene. The suspect is described as an average height, thin-build Black male, approximately 50 years old, wearing a black jacket, black joggers and white sneakers. The investigation is ongoing.
