REPORTS

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-08230200, 1100 block of S. Joyce Street. At approximately 9:06 p.m. on August 23, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the female suspect entered the business, collected merchandise and attempted to exit the store without payment during which she was confronted by loss prevention personnel. The suspect shoved loss prevention personnel before running from the scene. A lookout was broadcast and a responding officer located an individual matching the description of the suspect in 1100 block of S. Hayes Street and took her into custody. During the course of the investigation, the suspect spat on an officer. Maya Selmar Turner, 29, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with Assault on Police and Robbery. She was held without bond.

ROBBERY, 2025-08230061, 4900 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 6:26 a.m. on August 23, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly entered the business, collected merchandise and requested to purchase cigarettes at the counter. When the employee refused to set the cigarettes on the counter prior to the purchase being made, the suspect went behind the counter and attempted to steal them. A struggle ensued between two employees and the suspect during which he struck them and fled the scene on foot with the unpaid merchandise. The employees sustained minor injuries and were evaluated and released by medics on scene. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results. On August 24, an officer on patrol observed an individual matching the description of the suspect in the area of Columbia Pike and S. Randolph Street and took him into custody. Ricky Garner, 56, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Robbery (x2). He was held without bond.

ROBBERY, 2025-08230185, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 7:54 p.m. on August 23, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly entered the business, concealed merchandise and exited the store without payment. Loss prevention personnel confronted the suspect outside the business during which the suspect stuck and bit them. The suspect was detained with the assistance of additional loss prevention personnel and responding officers took him into custody. Loss prevention personnel sustained minor injuries and were evaluated and released by medics on scene. During the course of the investigation, suspected narcotics were recovered. John Moye III, 55, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with Robbery and Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance. He was held without bond.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2025-08240096, 4800 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 10:30 a.m. on August 24, police were dispatched to the report of a check on welfare. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect in the area exposing himself and took him into custody. During the course of the investigation, the suspect provided false personal identification information to officers and credit cards not belonging to the suspect were recovered. It was also determined that the suspect was wanted out of Fairfax County. Luis Alejandro Diaz Rodriguez, 28, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure, Giving False Identity to Law Enforcement, Credit Card Theft and was served with the outstanding warrants.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2025-08250024, Wilson Boulevard at N. Kansas Street. At approximately 3:00 a.m. on August 25, a patrol officer observed the male suspect expose himself while on a sidewalk and took him into custody without incident. Bryan Otero Rubio, 30, or Falls Church, Va., was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure, Public Urination and Public Intoxication.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY CAUSTIC SUBSTANCE, 2025-08230170, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 7:02 p.m. on August 23, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined the juvenile female victim was inside a restroom in a business when the juvenile suspect approached her from behind and pepper sprayed her before exiting the restroom and fleeing the scene on foot. Medics responded and treated and released the victim on scene for injuries consistent with pepper spray exposure. The juvenile suspect is described as thin-build, approximately 5’5”, 105 pounds, wearing all black clothing. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2025-08240087, 3300 block of Columbia Pike. At approximately 9:56 a.m. on August 24, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the suspect entered the business and placed merchandise in an aisle. An employee recognized the suspect as having previously stolen from the business and took the merchandise to the register. The suspect became irate and subsequently struck the employee before fleeing the scene on foot with the merchandise. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a thin-build Black male, approximately 25-30 years old, with short black hair, black facial hair, wearing a green hoodie, black pants, white shoes and carrying a red bag. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2025-08220240, 4200 block of Fairfax Drive. At approximately 6:38 p.m. on August 22, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business, concealed merchandise and attempted to purchase other merchandise during which an employee confronted him. The suspect then made threatening statements towards the employee before exiting the store and fleeing the scene on foot into the Ballston Metro. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a Black male carrying a red and gray backpack. The investigation is ongoing.

ROBBERY, 2025-08220284, 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 9:33 p.m. on August 22, police were dispatched to the report of a larceny in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the female suspect entered the business, concealed merchandise and exited the store without payment during which an employee confronted her. The suspect then made threatening statements towards the employee and displayed a pair of scissors before entering a red vehicle and fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a Black female, approximately 30-40 years old, 5’7” wearing all dark clothing. The investigation is ongoing.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 2025-08240010, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. At approximately 12:23 a.m. on August 24, police were dispatched to the report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined two suspects approached the restricted door of a closed business and tried the handle before subsequently fleeing the scene.  Suspect One is described as a white male wearing a black beanie, black glasses, light colored shirt, dark colored jeans and white shots. Suspect Two is described as a white female wearing a white shirt, light colored jeans and a carrying a black/blue purse. The investigation is ongoing.
